Donald L. Schaefer

Principal and Designated Broker

Donald L. Schaefer is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis , Missouri with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and was associated with one of the largest international accounting firms. He subsequently became a partner in a large, local St. Louis based accounting firm.

He subsequently applied his strong financial background to the real estate development and construction industry as Executive Vice President and Treasurer of a large design/build general contractor and real estate developer with offices throughout the Midwest . In this capacity he managed the construction, development and management of multi-tenant office, light industrial projects in Colorado , Florida , Illinois , Missouri , Ohio and Oklahoma . He then formed his own company, a predecessor to Schaefer & Associates, LLC, and became a joint venture partner in the development of a large, mixed-use commercial and high density housing development in St. Louis , Missouri . This project was recognized nationally for excellence in land planning and design.

He was attracted to the real estate opportunities in the Southwest and relocated to Phoenix , Arizona in the early 1980’s as a Principal in the acquisition, financing and management of the physical renovation and operations of a large apartment community. His diverse financial, construction and real estate operations experience has enabled him to direct the growth of Schaefer & Associates, LLC.

Eric J. Schaefer

Associate Broker

Eric J. Schaefer is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis , Missouri with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he joined the management training program at the national headquarters of Nissan Motor Corporation, where he was responsible for marketing and advertising in the sedan division.

He then took his marketing and advertising expertise to Autobytel.com, an online car buying service. Eric was responsible for all marketing communications, including development and placement of print and television advertising. Autobytel.com was the first “dot com” to advertise on the Superbowl, leading an industry-wide trend. Autobytel went public and is one of the few “dot coms” to survive the industry bust.

His success at Autobytel.com led him to become the director of corporate marketing at Macromedia, now known as Adobe, where he oversaw brand strategy and communications. Having found success in the corporate world, Eric elected to join Schaefer & Associates, LLC in 2002.

Eric Schaefer is now an Associate Broker and oversees all property management operations on a day-to-day and strategic level. He is a “hands on” manager and works very closely with clients and tenants to ensure effective management of the Schaefer & Associates, LLC portfolio of properties.

Jane Poucel

Associate Broker

Jane has been a successful commercial real estate broker for over 26 years.  Due to her experience in a variety of facets of commercial brokerage, she has the ability to market many different types of commercial real estate. Jane specializes in industrial and office properties.  Her background also includes development of these types of properties. A degree in interior architecture adds another dimension to her understanding. In excess of $350 million in sales and leasing are credited to her wide list of accomplishments.  Whether working with an institutional owner, a bank or local owner, Jane focuses on achieving the goals agreed to by her clients. Jane has earned her reputation as an aggressive owner’s representative in the sales and leasing of office and industrial properties.  In a suburban development, she met the challenge of leasing a 50% vacant project, during a depressed real estate market. The occupancy was increased to 95%, rental rates were increased and little tenant improvement costs were incurred by the ownership.  Subsequently, the property was sold at a very substantial profit. Her Education includes Boston University, New York School of Interior Design, Bachelor of Arts - Business Administration and Interior Architecture.
